Quad’s top-of-the-range Platina series launched last year with the Integrated amplifier and the Stream network music player, are now joined by the CDT CD transport. This latest addition is designed to match the visual design aethetics of the other two components and comes in either a black or silver finish. The CDT shares the same steel chassis, thick aluminium front panel, a 4.3in colour IPS LCD screen and anti-resonance feet as the Integrated amp. This transport only all digital design is totally focused on the accurate reading and retrieval of the data from the CD, so contains no DAC.

The chassis of the CDT is designed to be anti-resonance and a shielded transport mechanism helps to reduce vibrations and interference. According to QUAD, the CD mechanism has been chosen for its build quality and disc stability properties, and is coupled to a custom-designed dual-core CD servo control system for “maximum precision and accuracy”, aiming to reduce read errors and jitter before passing the signal to an external DAC via optical or coaxial outputs.
