Rotel’s Michi Prestige Series X430 And Q430 – Quick Look

Japanese HiFi brand Michi, by Rotel, has announced a new range, the Prestige Series, introducing the Michi Prestige X430 Integrated Amplifier and Michi Prestige Q430 CD Player. The series is positioned as a more accessible entry point to the brand, while maintaining the engineering principles and design approach seen in its higher-end Reference Series. They’ve been designed along similar lines to their pricier siblings, with a black finish, glass front, precision-milled aluminium chassis (complete with chamfered edges), plus knurled, metal controls.

This new series builds on established Michi technologies, including power supply design, circuit isolation, and low-noise architecture. The two new components are aimed at listeners seeking high-performance audio at a more affordable level, while retaining the brand’s focus on build quality and industrial design.

X430 Integrated Amplifier

The new X430 Integrated Amplifier is housed in an all aluminum chassis with a glass front panel that includes a customisable full-colour TFT display for setup and configuration, and includes the option of choosing between a Spectrum or VU meter view. Power is quoted to be 210W of Class A/B amplification (per channel, into eight ohms) and a premium ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M 32bit DAC handles conversion. .

Power is provided by a custom in-house engineered toroidal transformer and fully isolated power supplies minimizing noise and distortion. Wireless connectivity supports Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC, it is certified Roon Tested, and control is provided via the front panel controls and supplied Michi remote.

Rear panel hard wired analog connectivity includes; 1 x MM phono,  3 x RCA stereo line input, 1 x XLR stereo line input, 2 x RCA sub out, 1 x RCA stereo pre-out. Digital connectivity includes; 1 x HDMI ARC, 3 x optical SPDIF and RCA coaxial, 1 x RJ45 network and 1 x USB C. Wired control is available using the 4 x 3.5mm 12VDC trigger I/O connectors or RS232. Two pairs of speakers or bi-wiring is supported using the four pairs of speaker binding posts. Finally, the front panel contains a headphone connection.

Q430 CD Player

The Q430 CD player also comes with a glass front with a full colour TFT display, which can display CD album artwork and menu data. Control buttons on the front panel support opening/closing for the floating, front-loading CD mechanism and transport controls.

Inside the precision-milled aluminum chassis, there’s multi-stage isolated power regulation to reduce noise and distortion and the Q430 uses an eight-channel differential 32-bit ESS SABRE ES9028PRO DAC.

Rear panel wired connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA and XLR line-level outputs and 1 x RCA coaxial digital.  Other connectivity includes, 1 x RJ45 network, 1 x RS232 control and 2 x 3.5mm for remotes and trigger.
