Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 – First Look

Pro-Ject’s latest addition to their vinyl spinner range is the Juke Box E1, an all-in-one, plug and play, belt drive turntable system that is available in; black, white, red and walnut finishes. Coming complete with tonearm, pre-installed cartridge, built-in phono stage, line-level preamplifier, stereo power amplifier and Bluetooth receiver, just add passive speakers and you’re off to the party. Pro-Ject even sells a complete system, the Juke Box E1 Hi-Fi Stereo Turntable Set that adds the E1 turntable to a pair of BOX-5 two-way bookshelf speakers for $1,199/£799.

An update of the brand’s popular entry-level E1 turntable, the Juke Box E1 features; a CNC-machined wood chassis, a reworked aluminum tonearm with Ortofon OM5e MM cartridge, a new platter made of anti-resonant ABS polymer, a new damped DC motor, and a new electronic speed-change mechanism.

This latest design also includes a top, front mounted LCD display, that shows the volume level and input. Control is available locally using the front rotary and under mounted rocker controls, and via the supplied IR remote that gives control of volume via the 32 step digital potentiometer, input selection, change loudness presets, and adjust bass and treble.

The 8.6″ tonearm and cartridge come factory balanced and aligned, just add the belt drive, attach speakers, plug-in, and you’re ready to spin vinyl and stream audio.

Power is reasonable for many speakers providing 50 watts per channel into 4 ohms.

The Juke Box E1 is equipped with an analog line-in and Bluetooth receiver plus three outputs: speaker, fixed-line and phono. It also comes with an acrylic dustcover, 45 rpm singles adapter and Bluetooth antenna.
