Moon 341 Integrated Amplifier – Quick Look

Canadian company MOON by SimAudio has announced the MOON 341, a pure analogue integrated amplifier combining preamplification and power amplification in a single chassis. This new model is part of the Compass Collection, it is available in either a two-tone black and silver finish or an all-black finish, and is priced at: £4,400, $5,000 or €5,200.
Its contemporary design comes with bead-blasted aluminum cheeks, a 6.75-inch graphic display and may be controlled using the front panel buttons and rotary control, the supplied CRM-4 aluminum remote or even the optional BRM-1 Bluetooth remote. These controls give access to the various menu driven setup options via the front panel display.
The fully balanced analogue preamplifier section features four RCA inputs, including a dedicated phono input, plus one balanced XLR input. The integrated phono stage can be configured through the on-screen menu for MM and MC cartridges using the graphical user interface. Power is provided by the Class AB MOON Distortion-Cancelling Amplifiers (MDCA) that are rated at 100W per channel into 8 ohms and 200W into 4 ohms, having a damping factor of 425, and a frequency response of 5Hz–100KHz (+0/-3dB). The proprietary MDCA amplifier technology use a separate parallel error-correction design rather than the more conventional global negative feedback. This compares the input and output signals in real time and injects a precision correction signal directly at the output stage. The design is said to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) and noise, lowers output impedance, increases the damping factor, improves linearity, and removes DC without needing a traditional DC servo.
Powering this new design is an 800-watt MOON Hybrid Power supply with Active Power Factor Correction that provides stable, efficient power to the amplifier circuitry, helping to create its signal-to-noise ratio of 108dB.
Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x RCA MM/MC phono input, 3 x RCA and 1 x XLR stereo line level inputs, 1 x RCA stereo line level output, 2 pairs speaker binding posts, 1 x 12vdc trigger out and 2 x RJ45 Ethernet network connections that also support MOONlink control. The front panel supports 1 x headphone output.
