Eversolo Amp-F8 Power Amplifier – First Look

Eversolo have announced the AMP-F8 stereo power amplifier that offers both stereo and bridge modes with powers up to 500watts. It arrives in a compact CNC-machined unibody aluminium enclosure with a large linear power supply and dual analogue VU meters. Eversolo claims that the thick metalwork improves resonance control, heat dissipation and electromagnetic shielding, while natural convection cooling negates the need for a fan. Available in anodised matt black, the AMP-F8 is priced at; £1,749.00, $1,800.00 or €1,800.00.

Each Class AB output stage uses three pairs of precision-matched high-current BJT Onsemi power transistors (NW0218G/NW0320G) per channel. Eversolo state a total harmonic distortion plus noise of 0.003% at 1KHz, an A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio of at least 115dB and a frequency response of 10Hz to 30KHz, within ±0.5dB at 1W into 8 ohms. With a quoted damping factor greater than 400 into 8 ohms@1kH,z bass drivers should remain firmly controlled, while channel crosstalk is rated at no more than -95dB @ 180W into 8 ohms. The low-level circuitry employs a symmetrical dual-differential architecture with precision negative feedback to suppress common-mode noise and maintain linearity. In stereo mode, the AMP-F8 claims 180wpc RMS into 8 ohms and 280wpc RMS per into 4 ohms. In bridged mode the AMP-F8 can produce 500W RMS into 8 ohms. RCA and XLR inputs are provided with a switched 6dB gain adjustment, providing an overall gain of either 23dB or 29dB.

Powering this new design is a custom 800W toroidal linear power supply, supported by 24 audio-grade filter capacitors and separate power-supplies for the left and right channels. A DC-blocking circuit is used to reduce the effects of mains DC offset on the transformer, helping to limit mechanical vibration and noise.

Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA/XLR line level inputs, 1 x stereo pair of speaker binding posts and 1 x 3.5mm 12VDC trigger I/O. Switches include, power, ac voltage, signal gain, power mode, XLR/RCA input selection, standby mode and LED on/off.
