Monitor Audio Silver Series 8G Loudspeakers – First Look

Monitor Audio have announced the Silver Series 8G Loudspeakers. A new seven-model loudspeaker range designed for both two-channel HiFi and multi-channel home cinema systems. This seven-model line-up is available in; High Gloss Black, Satin White and European Walnut and comprises the:
Silver 500, Silver 300, Silver 100

This new series uses Monitor Audio’s Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium (C-CAM) bass/mid driver technology, that has been updated with Rigid Surface Technology (RST) III cone geometry, a reinforced dimpled pattern on the surface of a speaker’s driver cone. This revised geometry is intended to increase structural rigidity while reducing unwanted resonances.
The range also includes an updated C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter with a vented rear chamber, new shorting ring and UD Waveguide II.
Cabinets use a new ‘Silent Flow’ port system with a large diameter and revised flare geometry to manage airflow and reduce turbulence, and include Through-Bolt Driver Bracing, a technique that secures the drive units to the rear of the cabinet helping to reduce resonances.
Crossover networks have also been redesigned, with higher-quality components used throughout.
The range also uses new outrigger feet, with a top-adjust mechanism for levelling, replaceable with integrated rubber feet for use on hard floors. Also, all models except the On-Wall and AMS, support two pairs of speaker terminals for bi-amping/wiring.
