FiiO Announces The DP11 Desktop CD Player

FiiO has announced the new FiiO DP11 CD Player, a compact tray-loading CD player designed for desktop and home HiFi systems. Arriving as CD sales continue to grow, this latest model features a built-in DAC, multiple digital outputs and the ability to rip CD’s directly to USB storage without a computer. It is available in a black or silver finish and is priced at; £229/$170/€185.

Measuring 213 × 230 × 67mm, the player weighs in at approximately 1.8Kg, comes with an all-metal chassis and a 3.71-inch amber LCD display. Control is available using the front panel transport buttons or the included infrared remote control for track selection and playback.

The DP11 features a custom tray-loading CD mechanism with optimised servo firmware and a low-noise support assembly. One of its key features is the ability to rip CDs directly to a USB drive in lossless WAV format, without needing a computer. Ripping supports CDDA audio discs and requires a FAT32-formatted USB drive with a capacity of 32GB or less.

Internally the DP11 features a custom tray-loading CD mechanism and uses a Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC that is supported by two low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillators all driving the stereo RCA and  AES (XLR), coaxial and optical digital outputs. Separate power supplies and PCB sections are used for the CD servo, digital circuitry and analogue circuitry helping to reduce interference and noise. Power is provided by either the internal switch mode supply or alternatively by a suitable external 12V/2A DC linear power supply.

Its USB DAC functionality, supports PCM up to 32-bit/384KHz and native DSD256, plus MQA-CD bitstream passthrough is included. However, decoding MQA requires a compatible external decoder. The AES and coaxial outputs support up to 24-bit/192KHz, while the optical output supports up to 24-bit/96KHz. FiiO specifies a signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of at least 109dB for the RCA analogue outputs.

Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA line level, 1 x coaxial, 1 x optical and 1 x AES digital outputs plus 1 x USB.
