Silent Angel has released the new H1 Pure Music Hub that combines network streaming, dual ESS DACs and expandable internal music storage all with a 5.5-inch display in a compact desktop design, while retaining the option of feeding an external converter. It is available in a black or silver finish and priced at $849.
The Aerospace-grade aluminum alloy chassis uses a large 5.5-inch 1280 × 720 front panel colour display. It displays album artwork and playback information without requiring a phone or tablet whenever you want to see what’s playing.
Internally the new design uses a pair of 32bit 2-channel ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC chips together with a third-generation XMOS XU316 USB interface. The two-stage jitter-reduction system is claimed to improve timing accuracy, while four independent power supply rails feed separate parts of the circuitry. The analogue stage uses six of Silent Angel’s K-Muse operational amplifiers together with two Texas Instruments OPA1612 devices, all claimed to support a signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of up to 135dB.
High-resolution playback includes; PCM at up to 32-bit/768KHz and native DSD512 via USB, supported by both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue outputs. Music storage is provided by an internal M.2 NVMe slot that accepts SSDs up to 8TB, rather than on an external drive or NAS. Both USB storage and network libraries are also supported. Its internal DAC maybe used by other sources and via the USB-B connection and its USB digital output allows it to operate as a streamer and music server feeding an existing external DAC.
Networking is handled by Silent Angel’s VitOS platform running on a quad-core RK3568 processor with 4GB of memory. Streaming support includes TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect Lossless, AirPlay and DLNA, with Gigabit Ethernet provided for wired networking and control available through the VitOS Orbiter app.
Rear panel connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA and XLR line level out, 1 x USB-B 2 x USB3.0, 1 x USB-C, 1 x optical and 1 x Ethernet RJ45.
