The Swedish company DIRAC specializing in sound optimization, has announced that its Live Bass Control feature is now available for license in several  AV receivers/preamps from Denon and Marantz. Denon AV receivers now able to accept the Live Bass Control upgrade include the AVR/AVC-A1H, AVR-X3800H, AVR-X4800H, (AVR-X6800H coming soon). Marantz models ready to receive the upgrade include the Cinema 40 and Cinema 50 AV receivers and the AV 10 preamp/processor.

This upgrade will provide exceptional flexibility in optimizing your HT experience when added to the pre-installed Dirac Live Room Correction impulse-response room correction technology.

This paid optional firmware upgrade can be purchased to support a single sub or multiple subs and maybe upgraded from a single to multiple subs at any time with the purchase of an additional license, giving users and system builders plenty of flexibility. The current full cost of adding a single subwoofer version of the bass control software is $349, while the multi-subwoofer version costs $499. However, Dirac is offering a limited-time 30% “launch” discount.

Dirac Live Bass Control can support the positioning of subs anywhere in your room with minimal impact on performance. It works by aggregating various measurements and data and then makes adjustments in order to optimize the rooms bass distribution. A task that becomes increasingly complex with multiple subwoofers. The firmware also optimizes the crossover between the subwoofer(s) and main speakers ensuring a smoother transition between them.

According to Dirac; Live Bass Control builds on the existing Dirac Live Room Correction by:

  1. Dirac Live Bass Control Single Subwoofer adds automatic calibration and filter adjustments for a single subwoofer towards the full-range speakers it supports.
  2. Dirac Live Bass Control Multi Subwoofer is designed for multiple subwoofer management. This version uses machine learning and AI to quickly determine the ideal settings for multiple subwoofers and automatically apply filters. This technique dramatically simplifies a procedure that could otherwise take several days to complete to the same standard.
