Cyrus Launches Classic & XR BluOS Streamers – Quick Look

Two years ago UK based Cyrus announced its partnership with Lenbrook International to integrate the BluOS streaming platform into their products. Now Cyrus has launched two new streaming DAC’s, the Classic and XR, that will begin shipping later this month. Both the Cyrus Classic-STREAM and Cyrus Stream-XR products are fully featured streaming DACs capable of wirelessly playing lossless music up to 24-bit/192kHz with no lag.

BluOS streaming harnesses the power of BluOS, an advanced multi-room audio software that allows you to stream lossless music to every room in the house, users can locate music anywhere on a home network, cloud music service or Internet radio station and share it with any BluOS enabled device. These streamers integrated BluOS operating system and BluOS controller supports iOS, Android, Kindle, Mac or PC computers and allows music playback from major audio streaming services to include; Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Spotify and others, as well as being Roon Ready (pending) and supporting Airplay2. Hi-Res file formats includes; MQA, FLAC, WAV and AIFF with data rates up to 24-bit/192kHz, plus support for; MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, WMA-L, ALAC, OPUS.

Both models use the ESS ES9038Q2M 32 bit DAC with a high-speed analogue buffer stage, but offer different levels of “tuning”. Both designs support stereo RCA unbalanced analog line level out, and optical and coaxial digital out with the Stream XR including both optical and coaxial digital inputs. Both may be upgraded with an external power supply, with the PSX-R2 supporting the Classic STREAM and the PSU-XR providing five regulated low noise supplies for the post DAC stages, DAC and network card for the Stream XR.
