Completing the 3000C loudspeaker range, Q Acoustics has released the 3040c, a new compact floorstanding loudspeaker that joins the existing 3010c, 3020c, 3030c, 3050c, 3090c and 3060s models. The 3040c follows the styling footsteps of the rest of the 3000c range, having curved cabinet profiles, concealed fixings and a one-piece driver trim finished in satin nickel, or satin chrome on the white version. This passive, 37″ high, ported design is available in four finishes; Satin Black, Satin White, Pin Oak and Claro Walnut.

The 3040C driver complement includes; two 120mm (4.75-inch) C3 (Continuous Curved Cone) mid/bass drivers, a design shared across the 3000c range, and one 22mm (0.9-inch) tweeter derived from the company’s Concept Series.

The tweeter is contained in a sealed enclosure isolating it from the effects of cabinet vibrations and internal pressure, while the the mid/bass drivers profile combines characteristics of both straight and flared cone designs to provide a controlled bass performance, clear midrange reproduction and improved integration with the high-frequency driver. These drivers are tuned using a vented port extending their LF response to -6dB @ 43Hz.

The cabinet design uses Q Acoustics’ Point to Point (P2P) internal bracing, reinforcing areas of the enclosure that are more susceptible to low-frequency vibration. While Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser (HPE) tubes inside the enclosure manage internal pressures in order to reduce internal standing waves and cabinet colouration.

The 3040c is supplied with an aluminium stabiliser and top-adjustable spikes for levelling. Its single pair of recessed speaker binding posts providing connectivity.

Features At A Glance:

  • New ground-up C³ (Continuous Curved Cone™) mid/bass profile ensures superior bass dynamics and smoother integration with the high frequency driver.
  • Based on design principles from the newest Concept series, the hermetically sealed high frequency driver unit is mechanically isolated from the baffle, preventing modulation from the mid/bass driver.
  • Low-colouration cabinets with P2P™ (Point to Point™) bracing minimise low-end reverberation, improving the stereo image and soundstage.
  • HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser™) tubes disrupt the build-up of standing waves, smoothing the frequency response and reducing distortion.
  • Clean and contemporary aesthetic with sophisticated satin metallic driver trims.
  • Available in four finishes: Pin Oak, Claro Walnut, Satin White and Satin Black.
  • Bass unit: 2 × 120 mm (4.75 in)
  • Treble unit: 1 × 22 mm (0.9 in)
  • Frequency response (-6 dB): 43 Hz – 30 KHz
  • Nominal impedance: 6 Ω
  • Minimum impedance: 4 Ω
  • Sensitivity (1 m, 2.83 Vrms @ 1 kHz): 88.0 dB
  • Recommended amplifier power: 25–120 W
  • Crossover frequency: 2.4 kHz
  • Effective volume: 26.8 L
  • Dimensions (per loudspeaker, H × W × D, inc. spikes and stabilisers): 942 × 285 × 281 mm (37.1 × 11.2 × 11.1 in)
  • Weight (per loudspeaker): 14.6 kg (32.1 lb)
