Pro-Ject Announces T2 And T2 Super Turntables

Pro-Ject has announced two new budget plug-and-play turntables, the T2 and the T2 Super Phono. Both belt-drive models share the same basic design, internal circuitry and general specifications. The only significant difference is that the T2 Super Phono has a built-in RIAA phono stage that can be bypassed if required.
The T2’s precision CNC-milled wooden plinths, that are available in gloss black, satin white and walnut finishes, are both void and plastic free, avoiding unwanted vibrations and resonances. Both models are supported on vibration-absorbing feet further helping to isolate the turntable from its environment.
These models feature an electronically regulated, precision-speed, AC motor that uses a belt to drive a zero-resonance glass platter that is supported in a stainless-steel and brass bushing main bearing. Speeds of 33.33 and 45 RPM are selected using a rocker switch mounted on the left hand side of the plinth.
Sharing the same tonearm design, both models use a new nine-inch tonearm featuring a single aluminum tube with an integrated headshell and a low-friction gimble bearing assembly, together with a spring based anti-skate mechanism. The arm includes a pre-aligned Sumiko Rainier moving magnet cartridge.
The T2 Super debuts a brand new dual-stage split-passive phono preamp design that includes a number of improvements in both its design and layout over that when used in the T2 W turntable. The stage may be bypassed if you wish to use either your own external RIAA phono pre-amp or use a moving coil cartridge.
