Ortofon AS-212R and AS-309R Reference Tonearms Released

Drawing from the legacy of Ortofon’s classic AS-212 and AS-309 tonearm models, Ortofon has launched two new reference tonearms, the Ortofon AS-212R 9 inch model and Ortofon AS-309R 12 inch model.

With over 130 redesigned components the new Reference tonearms are crafted with unparalleled mechanical precision and advanced engineering. Using Japanese custom made high-precision bearings, they are meticulously hand assembled by Ortofon’s skilled artisans who adjust and review every component of each tonearm, ensuring unmatched quality and performance.

Both the AS-212 9-inch and AS-309R 12-inch models have been upgraded with materials selected to minimize unwanted distortion and noise, with both fulfilling the Baerwald alignment requirement that results in minimum tracking error. The tonearms are statically balanced, simplifying needle pressure adjustment by setting the weight, are height adjustable to set VTA and have an easy-to-set anti-skating feature, plus a detachable headshell for fast and easy cartridge swap.

Each tonearm comes with the premium Ortofon oxygen-free 6NX-TSW-1010 Tonearm cable and includes two counterweight options, allowing them to fit a wide range of cartridges. Plus, each tonearm uses a 5-pol DIN tonearm socket ensuring that you can use a broad range of tonearm cables, making the Reference Tonearm even more versatile and user-friendly.

Finally each arm is finished in luxurious matte black and silver chrome.
