NAD has announced the C 589, a dedicated CD player that expands their Classic Series. According to NAD, the C 589 features a high-quality disc transport and precision laser pick-up for smooth, accurate playback. Its premium loader is said to offer a fast, responsive feel, while the transport mechanism ensures reliable tracking across a wide range of compact discs. The player sports a large front-panel display with CD Text support that can show artist and track information. A remote control is also included.

The C 589 features a high-performance digital-to-analogue stage using a fully balanced DAC from ESS (no mention of model number), that is said to create low noise and distortion and supports a high dynamic range. The player also employs MQA Labs technology, specifically QRONO d2a, a precision time-domain filtering technology that improves resolution and timing accuracy during the digital-to-analogue conversion by replacing traditional digital filters with a more precise solution. The result is said to create a “smoother, more lifelike playback with improved imaging and clarity, especially on recordings rich in spatial detail and acoustic nuance”.

Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo pair balanced XLR and RCA analog outputs, and 1 x coaxial, 1 x TOSLINK and 1 x AES/EBU digital outputs. Control connectivity includes; 1 x 3.5mm 12VDC in and 1 x 3.5mm IR support.
