McIntosh MC2.1KW Monoblock Amp – Quick Look

To mark the 75th anniversary celebration of the company this iconic American brand has announced what has to be its most powerful amplifier to date, the MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier. This three chassis configuration boasts an astounding 2000 watts output that according to McIntosh sets, “a new industry standard for power and amplification”.
This new, but iconic design, is crafted with a stainless steel chassis that is polished to a mirrored finish. It conforms to the distinctive McIntosh aesthetics having; black glass front panels, illuminated logos, rotary knobs, aluminum handles, and a large blue Watt meter to complete this timeless design.

The MC2.1KW is a three-chassis configuration with the power audio circuitry split between two chassis (Power Modules), while the third chassis (Output Module) houses the bi-filar wound Autoformer, various speaker outputs and dual sets of unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs. The multiple speaker outputs support; 2 ohms, 4 ohms and 8 ohms, ensuring optimum power transfer to the selected speakers impedance while at the same time supporting three sets of identical binding posts to facilitate bi- or tri-wiring for each loudspeaker.

Building on the MC2KW, this latest design provides a larger-capacity power supply for better performance of low-end frequencies and improved dynamic headroom and four bespoke McIntosh heatsinks on each power module to ensure efficient heat dissipation. Enhanced circuit designs with upgraded modern components, shorter signal paths and updated electrical wiring and interconnect cables all aiding in the MC2.1KW’s sonic performance.

Other upgrades include; bayonet IP68 rated interconnect cables that connect the three modules together, direct LED front panel lighting and exclusive McIntosh technologies and features to include; Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Quad Balanced Design and Power Control.
Finally, because the MC2.1KW is commemorating McIntosh’s 75 years in the business, the first 75 units sold in 2024 to each country in which the brand is distributed will include special anniversary badging with “75 Years” engraved in the handles and a special logo stamped on the top.
