Expanding their Classic Range, Manunta by Italian HiFi brand M2Tech has announced the Manunta Classic Preamplifier and Manunta Classic Power Amplifier. They both feature a solid chassis with brushed aluminium front panels and are reminiscent of HiFi components from the 1980/1990’s. Pricing is to be confirmed but is estimated to be £7,499/€6,299 for the pre-amp and £5,999/€5,099 for the power amplifier.

The Manunta Classic Preamplifier is hand assembled in Italy and uses a discrete-component line stage, its balanced outputs use Lundahl transformers that are intended to drive long cables and challenging loads, including active speakers with balanced inputs. An RCA stereo loop is also provided to support the addition of an external signal processor or recorder. It accepts five line level sources plus phono. Control is available using the front panel rotary controls and buttons or the supplied IR remote that duplicates all user functions. A Wi-Fi interface is also available for control using any smartphone plus the free app provided by M2Tech on the Apple Store and Google Play.

The preamplifier supports both MM and MC phono stages, with a dedicated MC pre-preamp providing a continually adjustable input impedance from 10 ohms to 1K ohm. In MM mode, the MC pre-preamp is bypassed and the input impedance is fixed at 47K ohms. The phono stage also features improved power-supply filtering.

Rear panel connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA MM/MC phono input, 3 x RCA stereo line level inputs, 2 x XLR stereo line level inputs, 1 x stereo external signal loop and 2 x RCA and XLR stereo outputs. Other connections include a 3.5mm 12VDC trigger out and a front panel 6.35mm stereo headphone jack that can provide a maximum output of 2 watts rms into 32 ohms from its discrete-component amplifier.

The stereo Classic Power Amplifier is a Class AB design rated at 75W RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 110W RMS per channel into 4 ohms. Dynamic power reaches 170W RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 260W RMS per channel into 4 ohms for 10-millisecond bursts. Two analogue VU meters display output levels, with a 50dB dynamic range and scales calibrated in decibels and watts for 8-ohm loads. The Manunta IR remote, supplied with the pre-amplifier, may be used to control the meters’ brightness.

Its dual-mono power supply uses two dedicated large toroidal transformers and low-noise regulation. The design relies on thermal sensors, fuses and an oversized design rather than electronic protection circuits to prevent the output transistors from overheating or being damaged. The specified total harmonic distortion plus noise is 0.02% at maximum power into 8 ohms.

Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA and XLR inputs (selectable), 2 x pairs of speaker binding posts and 1 x 3.5mm 12VDC trigger In/Thru.
