KEF has launched a new generation of their Q Series featuring Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), the KEF Q Meta Series also features their 12th generation of the Uni-Q driver. The revamped Q Series Meta comprises; two 3-way floorstanders (Q7 Meta & Q 11 Meta), two 2-way standmounts (Q1 Meta & Q3 Meta), a 3-way standmount (Q Concerto Meta), a 3-way center channel (Q6 Meta), a 2-way Atmos module (Q8 Meta) and a 2-way on-wall speaker (Q4 Meta). The KEF Q Meta Series speakers feature a contemporary minimalist design with finishes that include; Satin Black, Satin White, and Walnut.

This new Q Series touts the integration of Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). This innovation uses a complex maze-like structure, in which each of the channels efficiently absorbs a specific frequency. When combined, theses channels are claimed by KEF to absorb up to 99% of the tweeter’s back wave.

Further upgrades in each model include; a 12th Generation Uni-Q driver that is to be found in all models, complete with KEF’s flexible chassis decoupling for lower mid/bass driver distortion, a tweeter gap damper to reduce resonances, and a ‘ShadowFlare’ waveguide that helps prevents the tweeter from “seeing” the edges of the cabinet, reducing diffraction.

The Q11 Meta, Q7 Meta, Q Concerto Meta and Q6 Meta have been upgraded from a 2.5-way to a 3-way speaker design. This revised configuration separates the frequency ranges, with the Uni-Q driver handling the high and midrange frequencies, and includes a newly designed bass driver for the low frequencies.

These 3-way models feature a new 6.5″ bass driver that according to KEF, goes deeper with a higher maximum output level a flared reflex port has been implemented to improve bass control and reduce chuffing at higher SPLs, plus the crossovers have been re-engineered to improve off-axis response.

This new range provides significant flexibility in the placement, and mixing and matching of speakers, and with the Q8 Meta Dolby Atmos surround speaker can easily create systems that support stereo to 7.1.4.

Finally, all speakers come with dedicated grilles that use magnetic fixing to provide a secure and precise fit.
