For many, whether you are a long time audiophile or just a vinyl enthusiast, correctly aligning a phono cartridge azimuth can often be time consuming and a little hit or miss, especially if you do it by “eyeball” and do not have access to and know how to use an oscilloscope and/or digital voltmeter.

The Fozgometer by Musical Surroundings, originally introduced in 2010, makes this alignment process quite straightforward enabling you to accurately set the cartridges azimuth and obtain the best sound performance from your cartridge and stereo vinyl. This new V2 model features:

  • Higher Sensitivity
  • Greater Accuracy
  • New Analog Meter
  • 9v battery or AC Powered

Compared to the older circular or elliptical styli, modern line-contact and micro-line styli have extremely small groove contact areas, requiring exceptionally fine cartridge adjustments. This new V2 contains a sensitive “Log Ratio Detector” to measure the channel separation and channel balance of your phono cartridge ensuring the best possible and more accurate setting of the cartridges azimuth. Working in conjunction with the The Ultimate Analog Test LP, the correct azimuth settings are easy to obtain ensuring the greatest channel separation and best channel balance possible. This correct azimuth alignment provides the highest quality sound and creates the best stereo imaging and sound staging from your cartridge and stereo vinyl.

Readings can be made with various input signals, either directly from the tonearm cables or from the output of the phono stage, without affecting accuracy and leaving your hands free to adjust the cartridge and tonearm. The three LEDs indicate Left, Center, and Right signal (test tone) positions, while the meter shows channel separation in both directions, and channel balance.

All Fozgometers come pre-calibrated from the factory. However, they can be recalibrate by the user if it becomes necessary.
