FiiO Announces EA13 Tube Amplifier

FiiO announces the FiiO EA13, a full-size integrated vacuum tube amplifier combining six tubes and a contemporary chassis design. The EA13 Tube Amplifier uses pure Class A push-pull operation in pentode mode and is rated at up to 28wpc @ 5% THD+N into 8 ohms. All for just £769.00, $769 or €665.
This new design uses custom, electromagnetically shielded, high-bandwidth, low-noise output EI transformers that are electromagnetically shielded, together with two Sylvania NOS PCF80 tubes in its preamplifier section and four JJ Electronic EL34 power tubes running in Class A push-pull. Together they generate 18wpc into both 4 and 8 ohms with THD+N below 1%, rising to a maximum of 28wpc with THD+N below 5%. Frequency response is stated as 20Hz–60KHz for the speaker output. For late night/personnel listening there is a headphone output that provides 185mW + 185mW into 300 ohms and 60mW + 60mW into 32 ohms, with a stated frequency response of 20Hz–65KHz.
Measuring 430 × 339 × 145mm and weighing in at 17.7Kg, the electronics are mounted in a unibody chassis with a CNC-machined, sandblasted aviation-grade aluminium front panel. The tubes sit beneath the integrated protective cover, with side ventilation and vibration-damping feet. Two mechanical VU meters with LED backlighting provide the main visual display. The amplifier also has adjustable RGB lighting around its control knobs. Volume is controlled through an analogue potentiometer that uses precision matched resistors in order to maintain channel balance, providing 40 adjustment levels.
Rear panel connectivity includes; 2 x stereo RCA line level inputs per channel, 2 sets of gold-plated 4-ohm and 8-ohm binding posts and a 3.5mm 12VDC trigger input. Headphone connectivity is found on the front panel using a 6.35mm single-ended connector.
