DS Audio Release SC-001 Sonic Cleaning Brush

DS Audio have announced the the SC-001, the world’s first sonic-vibration cleaning brush. Most conventional vinyl cleaning brushes tend to move dust across the vinyl’s surface, the SC-001 is claimed to reach into the grooves, restoring the record’s original sound before the stylus ever touches it. The Sonic Cleaning Brush uses high speed sonic vibration—approximately 11,000 vibrations per minute—to physically lift and remove dust from deep within record grooves. Unlike conventional brushes, its vibrating bristles penetrate the groove structure, dislodging even microscopic debris. Priced at: £995.00, $1,200.00 and €1,299.00.

DS Audio optimised the brush material by using high-sensitivity cameras to visualize dust particles on record surfaces and measuring residual dust levels before and after cleaning. Various candidates were tested together with an “optimal brush material for vibration”. “This data-driven approach—measurement-based decisions from the material selection stage onward—forms the foundation of the SC-001’s exceptional dust removal performance.”

The dispersion of static charge was dealt with by a dual layer approach:

1. Low static bristle material minimises the generation of new static electricity.
2. Conductive fibres integrated into the vibration drive unit discharge existing static buildup.

This approach is claimed to delivers static elimination performance to be “far beyond that of competing brushes.”

This new design may be used dry, before every play. No wet cleaning cycle, no waiting, just a cleaner groove and a truer sound.
