Denon New AVR-S770H & AVR-S670H – Quick Look

Denon has just announced the addition of two budget models to its S Series of entry-level AV receivers. Available for preorder, the 7.2-channel AVR-S770H and the 5.2-channel AVR-S670H are intended for small to mid-sized home theater systems, offering an extensive range of features for their price.
Both receivers have a two-channel power spec of 75 watts/channel into 8 ohms with 0.08% distortion and support 8K with 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough on three of their six HDMI inputs, in addition to supporting Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG high-dynamic range (HDR). HDMI I/O supports 8K scaling, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Quick Frame Transport (QFT) processing, with eARC and CEC compatibility.

While the AVR-770H supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound processing and can drive both a 7.2 and a 5.2.2 setup with two height channels, the AVR-S670H has two less channels and only provides surround processing in the form of Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master, DTS Neo:6 and Dolby ProLogic Il.
Other common features include; a user friendly setup assistant with Audyssey MultEQ room correction, Bluetooth streaming and multiroom wireless streaming via Denon’s Wi-Fi-based HEOS platform which supports Alexa voice control and access to numerous streaming suppliers to include; Amazon Music HD, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, iHeart Radio, Napster, Soundcloud, Mood Mix, Spotify, Pandora and other streaming and Internet radio services. Both receivers are also Roon tested and include Apple’s AirPlay 2 platform.
