Cyrus New TTP Turntable – Preview

UK based high end audio company Cyrus has been around for about forty years and has just introduced their first turntable, the Cyrus TTP. This latest addition to their vinyl offerings will compliment their existing Cyrus Phono Signature/PSX-R2 phono preamp offering.

The Cyrus TTP is a belt-drive design, with the plinth and platter precision machined from solid aluminum blocks for greater stability. The platter is suspended on a hardened steel spindle that rotates on an “ultra-precise bearing”, while there are adjustable feet to support the damped chassis. Speed change is electronically controlled using a pair of buttons, supporting speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. Platter drive is accomplished using a belt, driven by a DC synchronous motor and custom designed digital control circuit which is said to provide; “exceptional speed stability and extremely low wow and flutter”.

Speed adjustments may be made using the small screwdriver presets on the rear of the turntable. Improved motor and platter performance is available using their optional PSX-R2 power supply that Cyrus says delivers an “even more stable, ultra-low noise power supply” for the deck’s motor.

The included tonearm is of a lightweight design having its mass redistributed throughout so there are said to be; “fewer points of resonance”, the entire assembly being supported on an; “almost friction free movement from the horizontal and vertical bearing assemblies”. No cartridge is included allowing the purchaser to select their own. The arms adjustments include; tracking force, bias and cartridge zenith, but there does not appear to be any azimuth or arm height/VTA adjustment.

Finally, phono signal connectivity is via the rear panels pair of unbalanced RCA connectors and the package comes with a platter matt and cartridge alignment tool but no dust lid.
