Cyrus Audio have released the 40 PPA phono stage that marks the latest addition to this British company’s growing 40 Series that includes; the 40 ST streamer, 40 AMP integrated and 40 CD player. The 40 PPA features the same half-width anodized aluminum chassis and five-inch glass-fronted touchscreen display as the rest of the 40 Series range.
Cyrus has completely redesigned the internal circuitry and pcb board layout for the 40 PPA. The new six-layer PCB layout is arranged to reduce interference by isolating key circuit paths, aiming to drastically lower noise levels. A new power supply reduces noise by a claimed 20% when compared to its predecessor, the Classic PHONO, and the gain control has been refined, now being adjustable in 5dB increments.

A noteworthy feature of the design is the ability of the user to easily setup and adjust most functions from their listening position using the remote, this includes cartridge fine-tuning with the results displayed on the units front glass display.
Similar to earlier models, the 40 PPA supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving-coil (MC) cartridges, with a large range of gain, load and capacitance adjustments simplifying the optimization of cartridge loading. The design supports up to four turntables/cartridge stereo unbalanced RCA connections, a pair of RCA unbalanced and XLR balanced outputs, a warp filter and ground lift switch. While the display and on-screen menus provide a clear indication of setup parameters and display levels, with peak hold, for adjusting gain.

Rear panel signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo RCA and XLR line level outputs and 4 x RCA stereo phono inputs with ground lugs and ground lift switch. Other rear panel connections include support for an external 40PSU, 1 x RJ45 control, 1 x USB-A upgrade port and the mains IEC connector.
Finally, the Cyrus 40 PPA is compatible with the Cyrus 40 PSU stand alone external power supply for further performance enhancement.
