Cyrus 80 AMP Now Available – First Look

The long awaited Cyrus 80 AMP is now in production. This Class AB, 150 wpc, integrated streaming amplifier is now available according to the Cyrus web site, arriving in a black anodised aluminum chassis and priced at; £5,399/$7,499/€6,299.
This full-width casework with a front panel five-inch colour TFT display provides the additional internal space to include; the power supply, amplification and extensive connectivity, plus streaming, DAC, phono and amplification without relying having to employ an external power supply. Control and access to the amplifiers features and menus is available via the supplied remote, two front panel rotary controls and eight touch sensitive buttons plus an App available on iOS, Android, Kindle, Mac or PC.
The 80 AMP delivers 150wpc of Class AB power. It uses a 32 bit ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC with HyperStream IV technology, supporting PCM playback to 24-bit/192KHz and DSD256. BluOS provides integrated network streaming together with Apple AirPlay 2 and Roon Ready support. File formats include; MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, WMA-L, ALAC and OPUS, plus Hi-Res; DSD, MQA, FLAC, WAV and AIFF. Vinyl lovers are also catered for with a phono input that supports both MM and MC cartridges.
Rear panel connectivity includes; 1 x RCA phono (MM/MC selectable), 4 x stereo RCA line level input, 1 x stereo XLR input, 1 x stereo RCA and XLR pre-outputs. Digital connectivity includes; 2 x RCA coaxial, 2 x TOSLINK optical, 1 x HDMI eARC, 1 x asynchronous USB B and 1 x RJ45 Ethernet. Two pairs of binding posts support speaker connectivity, while headphone connectivity can be found on the front panel.
