Chord BerTTi Compact Ultima Amp – Quick Look

Announced at High End Munich 2023 the BerTTi is a table-top 75 watt stereo amplifier that uses many of the same components and techniques found the the Chord ULTIMA Class A/B amplifiers but now at a more affordable price.

Joining the existing table-top (TT) range that includes the Hugo TT 2 and M Scaler but replacing the TToby. This newly developed, fully-balanced, 75-watt (8 Ω), compact stereo power amplifier employs the latest dual-feed-forward error-correction topology, offering a new entry point to owning an amp featuring the brand’s latest Ultima technology.

Promising “astonishing accuracy” from its advanced Ultima error-correction technology that monitors and immediately corrects signals before the output stage, this all balanced, compact stereo amplifier also contains two modified HF switch mode power supplies for increased performance, plus an additional auxiliary power rail for the front end, providing extra voltage to drive the proprietary MOSFETs. This new design claiming a frequency response of 5 Hz-100 kHz (+/- 0.5 dB), a THD of 0.008% together with an SNR of 87 dB (A-weighted).

Connectivity is all supported on the rear panel with gold plated unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs, two pairs of loudspeaker binding posts, 12VDC trigger and a switchable IEC power socket.

This latest addition to the TT range is contained in a matching precision-machined solid aircraft-grade aluminum case that is available in Jett Black or Argent Silver finishes.  It has been designed to pair with both the Hugo TT 2 DAC/preamp and Hugo M scaler that can create upscaled audio to 705.6KHz (16xCD native resolution), creating an impressive compact three-box system.
