Cambridge Audio has announced the full-width Evo 300 streaming integrated amplifier, described as the most powerful in its Evo lineup, and an evolution of the more compact Evo 150 SE. Built around Hypex NCOREx Class D modules, the Evo 300 delivers 300wpc into 8 ohms and 550wpc into 4ohms. Cambridge Audio has implemented a dual-mono architecture intended to improve channel separation, alongside a balanced preamplifier stage and dedicated analogue volume controls for each channel. The aluminium chassis is available in a black finish and comes with a 7.8″ colour display for album art, meters and more, plus a choice of real wood or tech-style side panels.

The amplifier incorporates a switch-mode power supply that is designed to provide the power and control required for a wide range of loudspeaker loads, while also having dual speaker binding posts per channel, allowing two separate speaker zones to be driven simultaneously or supporting bi-wiring.

The Evo 300 uses Cambridge Audio’s StreamMagic Gen 4 streaming platform, offering access to; Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, internet radio, UPnP streaming and Roon Ready functionality. Streaming can be handled over Wi-Fi or Ethernet via the StreamMagic app.
Digital conversion is managed by an ESS SABRE ES9038Q2M DAC, with support for PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512. The amplifier also supports Google Cast, Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX HD, allowing compatibility with a broad range of streaming environments and devices.
The front panel offers a 6.3mm (1/4″) headphone socket alongside the 7.8″ colour display that shows album artwork and track metadata for both streaming sources and the Evo CD player, with VU meters or a clock as alternative views. Control is available using the six front panel buttons and rotary control plus the StreamMagic app. A dedicated rear subwoofer output supports independent level and crossover controls, with optional high-pass filtering for the main loudspeakers.

Rear panel digital connectivity includes; 1 x USB Audio, 1 x USB Media, 1 x optical TOSLINK, 1 x coaxial, 1 x HDMI eARC for television integration and 1 x RJ45 Ethernet. For analogue sources the EVO 300 excepts; 1 x stereo RCA and XLR inputs, 1 x stereo RCA pre-out as well as a built-in RCA MM phono stage. Speaker connectivity is offered on two pairs of speaker binding posts that support bi-wiring and dual speaker zones. Wired control is available using the; 1 x 3.5mm EVO CD, 1 x 3.5mm 12VDC trigger out, 1 x 3.35mm IR in and 1 x RS232 serial control DB9.
