Bryston BP-19 Preamplifier – Preview

The Bryston BP-19 is their latest ultra-high-performance stereo, all analog, preamplifier, handcrafted in Canada and coming with a 20-year warranty. It benefits from the design innovations achieved during Bryston’s development of the BR-20 streaming preamplifier. The signal path features a fully balanced design from input-to-output, using an array of very closely matched components and discrete operational amplifiers that achieve very low noise and superior common mode rejection, delivering a low THD+N measurement at or below 0.0006%.

Helping to keep stray magnetic fields and noise at bay, the Bryston BP-19 preamplifier has an oversized toroidal power transformer and employs an advanced volume attenuator that Bryston says ensures a long-lasting, quiet, linear performance.

The all analog connectivity includes; two pairs of balanced XLR inputs and four pairs of unbalanced RCA input connectors. Outputs include; two pairs of unbalanced RCA connectors and two pairs of balanced XLR outputs, both of which support one fixed and one variable pair. A front panel 1/4″ jack gives access for headphones.

This new design supports internal options of a; BP-2 moving magnet (MM) phono stage (BP-19P) module or a custom moving coil (MC) transformer phono module (BP-19MC).

Manual selection of various features is available using either the front panel controls, supplied IR BR-4 remote or remotely via the available RS232 or IP Ethernet ports on the rear panel. Front panel LED’s indicate selected input and various status conditions while the front panel dimmable OLED displays volume level and input selection that may be individually named or hidden from selection. The BP-19 may also be turned on/off using its trigger input, with two trigger outputs that can be used to power on/off other compatible equipment.

Finally, the BP-19 is available in five standard faceplate finishes plus custom in both 17 or 19inch widths, including 19-inch rack mount.
