Yamaha Releases True X Wireless Surround Sound System

Yamaha has just released its True X Wireless Surround Sound System promising an easy-to-use and flexible Dolby Atmos true surround experience. Yamaha claims that True X is “the next phase in Yamaha’s class-leading sound bar technology” and that it “offers the most comprehensive yet simple entertainment experience Yamaha has yet developed”.

The True X bars feature height speakers and compatibility with Dolby Atmos to deliver sounds from above. The True X bar can also be used with various online music streaming services including; Spotify and Amazon Music and is enabled for Amazon Alexa voice commands. It is also equipped with AirPlay 2, Yamaha’s Clear Voice function, Bass Extension and four different sound modes specifically for enhancing the listening experience of different material content.Yamaha Releases True X Wireless Surround Sound System

The SR-X50A arrives with its own separate wireless subwoofer while the SR-X40A can have the wireless SW-X100A subwoofer added to it. Surround sound is supported for both systems using a pair of WS-X1A True X wireless speakers (sold separately), that support discrete left and right surround channels for a 4.1.2 channel configuration. These re-chargeable surrounds may be used as portable individual Bluetooth V5.0 speakers by using the ‘Solo Mode’ button, allowing you to use them as an individual audio solution in different locations.

The stylish WS-X1A True X speakers have an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, support Clear Voice for improved voice and dialog and are small and compact enough to carry anywhere. They are said by Yamaha to “deliver excellent sound, regardless of if it is being used as a surround speaker or a portable speaker”. Charging is via a USB-C port or for fixed installations the dedicated CC-T1A charging terminal (sold separately), with the batteries supporting up to 12 hours of operation.

Connectivity includes, HDMI in, HDMI out with eARC, optical and network, thus allowing the TV to drive the soundbar using a single optical or HDMI cable. Finally setup is straightforward using a smart phone or tablet and the dedicated Sound Bar Controller app for iOS or Android, that guides the user through the process. The app also supports; input select, volume and playing audio files stored on your phone or NAS drive through Wi-Fi.
