Yamaha CD-C603 5-Disc CD Changer – Quick Look

Digital streaming may be on everybody’s wish list but many of us still have libraries of high quality plastic CD’s that we cherish. Yamaha has made extended playback of those discs now even easier with their five disc CD changer, a rare product these days! This player not only has a “direct” feature but also lets the user swap out discs while a disc is playing.

Yamaha calls this disc swap feature PlayXChange, allowing the user to swap up to four of the five discs at a time while the fifth disc continues to play.

The CD-C603 also boasts a familiar feature called Pure Direct, this shuts down the digital audio output and turns off the display, reducing any noise interference they may generate on the analog outputs.

Compatible disc formats include; CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, with support for; MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and FLAC music files via the USB front-panel port – (up to 96kHz/24bit WAV/FLAC).

This new design also incorporates a couple of design elements found in other single-disc Yamaha players, namely; a floating laser pickup mechanism that isolates it from vibrations and an “intelligent servo” that employs digital processing to detect and compensate for any signal, tracking or motor speed issues.

Rear panel connectivity includes; stereo unbalanced line level RCA outputs, an optical out and a remote in/out option.

Finally, control is available via the fully featured front panel, hand held IR remote or rear panel remote I/O. The player also supports firmware upgrades via the front panel USB port.
