Victrola have been in the audio equipment business for what seems forever, actually since 1906 and recently at CES 2023 announced their new Stream Onyx VPT-2000-BLK-ATE Turntable, that is now avilable in the US.

The Victrola Stream Onyx is the second model in the company’s Stream turntable lineup, following in the footsteps of the Stream Carbon. This latest addition to their wireless turntable range is verified as a “Works with Sonos” product. It is a lower cost, revamped version of their Stream Carbon enabling users to enjoy listening to their vinyl through their entire Sonos system, all with no additional equipment.

The Onyx feature set includes; an aluminum tonearm with a custom-designed removable headshell fitted with a moving magnet Audio-Technica VM95E cartridge, a built-in MM preamp, an MDF plinth, a die-cast aluminum platter, adjustable speeds of 33 1/3 and 45rpm, an adjustable counterweight and a dust cover.

Supporting both wired and wireless connections the Onyx is just as at home driving a traditional amplifier and speakers as it is connecting to a Sonos wireless or networked environment.

Those connecting wirelessly or over a wired network using the Victrola Stream app (available via iOS and Android), are told that connecting the Stream Onyx can be done “in seconds”. Once the pairing and setup is complete the Victrola Stream Onyx fully integrates with the Sonos app for simple control, with the built-in illuminated control knob providing a tactile, centralized volume control for the entire Sonos system and selected playback groups.
