Orchard Audio New PecanPi+ Streamer And DAC – First Look

Well known for their high performance Class D power amplifiers, Orchard Audio has expanded its line of PecanPi products with the introduction of the PecanPi+ Streamer and PecanPi+ DAC. These two new products include the latest flagship AKM silicon.

The Streamer is a plug-and-play Hi-Res music streamer that can be controlled wirelessly using your phone, tablet, or computer or connected to any digital transport utilizing S/PDIF. It is available with a number of software options to include; Volumio, piCore Player, Roon End Point and moOde Audio.

For those DIY’ers out there, the PecanPi+ DAC, that is also used in the Streamer, is available separately for those audio enthusiasts who want to “build their own”.

PecanPi+ DAC Module

The PecanPi+ DAC uses Asahi Kasei Microdevices’ (AKM) latest flagship AK4499EXEQ digital-to-analogue converter and AK9141EQ ΔΣ modulator chips. The 4499 DAC utilizes the latest multi-bit switched resistor DAC method, employing their VELVETSOUND technology.

These new designs uses ultra-low noise power supplies (Analog Devices LT Series), an ultra-low jitter clock (Crystek CCHD-575), and the latest high-performance OPA1612 audio operational amplifiers from Texas Instruments for line level/headphone feeds.
