Technics has just announced its new SU-GX70 streaming amplifier that is said to combine the sonic advantages of Technics’ “Grand Class” models with a host of features and an upgraded SL-1500C turntable sporting a fresh white finish for 2023.
The new SU-GX70 high-spec streaming amplifier not only extends the brand’s Grand Class range but it is their first product to host an HDMI ARC port since the brand’s revitalization in 2014. It includes a range of technologies and techniques from both Panasonic and Technics for full-digital power amplification ensuring noise and distortion-free playback.
The range of technologies and techniques include; a full digital amplifier that uses their JENO engine technology ensuring noise and distortion-free playback, a speaker impedance adaptive optimization algorithm that performs corrections to the speakers ideal impulse response thus flattening its frequency characteristic, a new double power supply that aims to ensure a high signal-to-noise ratio, optimized HDMI connectivity to reduce digital noise, a pure mode that turns off the HDMI and network circuits, optimized discrete component analog amplifiers and Space Tune™ for the optimization of speaker positions. Also included is the Clean Power Clock Generator technology borrowed from Technics’ Reference Class components that promises high-precision digital signal processing and “supreme audio accuracy”.
By using the Chromecast platform access to services that include; Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer and Qobuz are implemented. Support for MQA hi-res streaming is available with Amazon Music HD to be added via an OTA firmware update at a later date. Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth connectivity allow for seamless wireless network communication, with radio services provided by; FM, DAB+, and the Internet.
Physical connectivity options include; the new HDMI ARC connection, two analog high-level line inputs, one analog high-level line pre-out, three digital inputs (2 optical, 1 coaxial), USB-A (front), USB-B (rear) plus an F type connector for the FM antenna. Private listening is available via the front panel headphone socket. For those vinyl enthusiasts a high-grade, low-noise, RIAA phono stage provides support for moving magnet (MM) cartridges.
Control is available via the included IR remote plus the front panel volume and input controls with the front panel display providing additional information and access.
With all this technology wrapped up in an elegant, minimalist design in both silver and black finishes.
