Support for physical media playback keeps on coming with TEAC announcing the release of the PD-507T, their next-generation CD transport designed to expand the brand’s Reference 500 Series. Available in both silver and black finishes.
The PD-507T uses TEAC‘s CD-5020A in-house manufactured broadcast quality CD transport mechanism and supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats. The entire CD mechanism is mounted on the main chassis with a semi-floating construction that is not fully attached to the chassis. The mounting system is said to have been carefully designed to prevent vibrations from the spindle motor and actuator from being transmitted to the chassis and adversely affecting CD reading.

The drive control circuit of the CD mechanism uses a slower feedback loop that claims to provide “a natural and open sound”. While the spindle and pickup lens drive actuators are driven by a Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) circuit, which does not generate switching noise, resulting in improved signal reading.

The PD-507T employs a high-performance, low phase noise crystal oscillator for its internal clock. For those wanting enhanced performance an external 10MHZ master clock input is available to be driven by a Master clock source.
Powering the PD-507T is a discrete analog power supply circuit using a toroidal core transformer with triple secondary windings and triple rectifier circuits. These supplies independently power the audio circuit, the CD drive and microcomputer, and the display circuit. Separate power supplies are also used for the clock and digital output. All minimizing noise and improving playback fidelity.

Control is available using the six front panel buttons, the supplied RC-1338 remote together with the amber colour OLED display. A DC trigger input supports external on/off control using other components.

Digital connectivity includes; 1 x optical SPDIF and 1 x coaxial RCA outputs, (unused digital outputs may now be disabled), 1 x 10MHz BNC external clock in, and 1 x in/thro 3.5mm 12VDC trigger. Finally, TEAC’s “stress-less isolation feet” and semi-floating top panel are claimed to help control vibration and preserve tonal balance.
