Rotel, the Japanese audio equipment manufacturer, has unveiled three updated and enhanced models; the Rotel A10MKII Integrated Amplifier, Rotel A11MKII Integrated Amplifier and Rotel CD11MKII CD Player. All three are said to benefit from upgrades to critical components and circuit topology, promising extra resolution and detail while maintaining their competitive pricing. These three upgrades come on the heals of the recent MKII upgrades to the; A12MKII integrated amplifier and CD14MKII and RCD-1572MKII CD players.
According to Rotel these upgrades are meant to, pay homage to and build upon, the 40 year engineering legacy of the late Ken Ishiwata. Aiming to enhance the performance of their predecessors while remaining faithful to Ken’s design philosophy.
Rotel A10MKII
The A10MKII Integrated Amplifier underwent over 67 component upgrades, including components in the power and amplifier gain stages. The new Class AB power amplifier stage now offers 2 x 50W (8 ohms). Analog signal connectivity continues to support; a moving magnet phono stage and three unbalanced RCA analog source inputs, but the Tape In/Out, the Pre Out and a set of Aux ins are all gone. Also having no DAC there are no digital inputs either. Power is supplied by an in-house manufactured toroidal transformer together with substantial storage capacitors.
Other rear panel connections include; a single set of speaker binding posts, dual 12V trigger outputs and an automatic power control switch.
Control is avilable using the included IR remote for volume adjustment in the analogue domain plus input source selection, or by the front panel controls that feature bass, treble and balance controls, plus a 3.5mm headphone output connector.
Brief Technical Specifications:
- POWER OUTPUT: 50W/Ch (All channels driven, 8Ω)
- TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD): <0.03%
- FREQUENCY RESPONSE:
- Line Level Inputs: 10Hz – 100kHz, -0.5dB, +0.05dB
- Phono Input: 20Hz – 20kHz, -0.5dB, +0.3dB
- S/N RATIO (IHF “A” Weighted):
- Line Level Inputs: 90dB
- Phono Input: 85dB
- INTERMODULATION DISTORTION (60Hz:7kHz, 4:1): <0.03%
Rotel A11MKII
With over 22 critical component upgrades and still providing 50watts of Class AB power per channel into 8 Ohms input connectivity includes; a MM phono input and three unbalanced RCA analog line-level inputs, while the internal DAC by Texas Instruments, 32-bit/384kHz PCM5102, supports both TOSLINK and coaxial rear panel digital inputs up to 24bit/192KHz. The DAC is also used to support Bluetooth that is now both aptX HD and AAC compatible. Power is again supplied by an in-house manufactured toroidal transformer together with substantial storage capacitors.
As with the A10MKII other rear panel connections include; a single set of speaker binding posts, dual 12V trigger outputs and an automatic power control switch. With control again being avilable using the included IR remote for motorized volume control in the analogue domain, plus input source selection, or by the front panel controls that feature bass, treble and balance controls, plus a 3.5mm headphone output connector.
Brief Technical Specifications:
- POWER OUTPUT:
- 50W/Ch (8Ω)
- 62W/Ch (4Ω)
- TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD): <0.03%
- FREQUENCY RESPONSE:
- Line Level Inputs: 10Hz – 100kHz, -0.5dB, +0.05dB
- Phono Input: 20Hz – 20kHz, -0.5dB, +0.3dB

Rotel CD11MKII
The CD11MKII arrives with ten critical component upgrades that are said to focus on the digital circuitry that surrounds the Texas Instruments PCM5102A 32bit/384kHz DAC. While the CD tray-loading mechanism is said to provide a smooth action with a precise laser pickup and silent running motor controller to ensure a seamless, worry-free playback of your CD collection.
Rear panel connectivity includes; analog stereo unbalanced RCA outputs together with coaxial RCA digital out allowing the player to be used a s a CD transport. Other rear panel connections include; the 12V trigger input and RS232 connection.
Control is again available via the supplied IR remote or front panel controls together with an LCD display.
Brief Technical Specifications:
- TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION + NOISE: 0.009% @ 1kHz
- FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 20Hz – 20kHz ±0.5dB
- S/N RATIO (IHF “A” Weighted): >125dB
- DYNAMIC RANGE: >99dB
- DIGITAL TO ANALOG CONVERTERS: Texas Instruments PCM5102A
