Despite the growth of streaming , the CD still garners a lot of attention from manufacturers. To that end, Revox has introduced the STUDIOMASTER CD100, a compact high-end CD player designed to fully integrate into its STUDIOMASTER M500, M300 and Multiuser 3.0 systems. That being said, the player will be just as happy as a stand alone in any system. This half width player is housed in a solid aluminium cabinet with a glass front, and is available in black, white and silver finishes.

The CD100 is built around a high-quality CD drive and supports CD-DA and CD-R playback. Digital conversion is handled by a Burr-Brown PCM1796 DAC, with outputs including analogue audio, coaxial digital and optical digital connections. Adding to it signal flexibility is its control functionality when partnered with Revox’s current STUDIOMASTER electronics. When connected to the STUDIOMASTER M500 or M300, the CD100 uses two cables: a coaxial link for the digital audio signal and a separate data connection for control. Revox includes its Control Port CD Player Connection Cable in the package, enabling plug-and-play setup via the USB port on the M500 or M300 and the RS232 control input on the player.
Configuration is automatic, with the connected source renamed “CD Player” within the system interface. Playback information and CD status can be displayed both in the Revox Multiuser app and on the front-panel displays of compatible components. Status messages include “Play”, “Pause”, “Stop”, “No CD” and “Read Error”. The CD100 switches on automatically when selected as a source and powers down when users move to another source on the M500 or M300. If the coaxial input is already occupied, optical or analogue inputs can also be configured manually.

Control options include; front-panel buttons on the player, the Revox Multiuser app and the Revox control systems when paired with the M500 or M300. Revox also confirms backward compatibility with the Joy S119 and S120 MKII network receivers via the CD-Link interface.
