PS Audio has starting shipping its new AirLens music streamer. It offers high-resolution streaming with PCM data rates of up to 352.8 kHz and DSD to 256 via Roon and services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, JRiver, and Audirvana, as well as from an NAS storage device or DLNA-compatible server. AirLens connects via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and being just a network streamer provides external DAC connectivity via its I²S and coaxial digital outputs.

According to PS Audio the AirLens’s exceptional audio is attributed to its use of:

  1. Galvanic isolation between all input and output signals that eliminates any physical electrical connection between input and output. This is accomplished by using a low-noise galvanically isolated DC-to-DC converter to feed power to the AirLens’ output stage and then coupling the music signal via isolation transformers or opto-couplers.
  2. Digital Lens technology for the output, which uses a variable RAM buffer that collects and stores the music data before being sent out to the DAC by a high-precision, low-jitter fixed clock.

These design approaches are said to eliminate noise from computers, Ethernet cables, EMI interference via Wi-Fi, modems and routers that can contribute to increase in clock jitter and loss of quality. According to PS Audio; “The results are nothing short of amazing. Finally, streaming music with all the noise and jitter-induced haze and congestion gone.” and “Suddenly, streamed music rivals that of local music from your transport”.

Control is via your selected streaming application with device setup being available through a set of DIP switches on the units base panel.

Finally, it is available in either silver or black, while its sleek design and compact size should allow it to fit into any audio system.
