Pro-Ject VC-E Mini Record Cleaner – Quick Look
Pro-Ject has announced a new model in its VC vinyl cleaning series, the Pro-Ject VC-E Mini Record Cleaner, a compact vacuum-assisted record cleaning machine. This new model maintains a 30 RPM cleaning speed while reducing overall size and cost. The trade-off is that users sacrifice scale and throughput in return for simplicity, compact size, and easier storage. All making occasional vinyl cleaning easier and less complex for smaller vinyl collections. Manufactured in Europe, the Pro-Ject VC-E Mini uses a rigid chassis constructed from 4 mm aluminium composite panels, measures 230 x 155 x 185 mm and weighs 2.1 Kg (excluding power supply).
The new cleaner eliminate the need for a traditional suction arm. Similar to my Nitty Gritty vinyl cleaner, suction from beneath the vinyl pulls cleaning fluid out of the grooves rather than sweeping it across them. Pro-Ject claims this reduces mechanical complexity, lowers noise, and leaves records dry and residue-free. The rotational speed of 30RPM is reversible using the small side mounted rocker switch.
The vacuum is created using a brushless DC motor ensuring a longer service life plus consistent performance. A magnetic clamp secures the record and seals and protects the label, while an internal tank collects the waste liquid that can be emptied via the small cap on the rear side.
The Pro-Ject VC-E Mini is supplied with an external power supply, cleaning brush, magnetic clamp, adhesive arm strip and a 100 ml bottle of Wash it 2 cleaning solution that is based on demineralised water and is alcohol free.
