Pro-Ject T2 W Wi-Fi Turntable Announced

Pro-ject has just announced its first venture into the world of Wi-Fi streaming turntables, the T2 W. Based upon the popular T1 turntable design this wireless design supports playback on multiple devices supporting a lossless 24-bit / 48kHz signal.

The T2 W features a new precision engineered aluminum 9 inch arm, a thicker glass plate platter, a pre-mounted Sumiko moving magnet (MM) Rainer cartridge together with a built in MM phono stage with RCA line-level out. It supports both wireless and wired streaming to multiple types of UPnP devices, to include; network streamers, home theatre receivers and streaming loudspeakers. Such connection versatility should allow the T2 W to fit into virtually any living space.

The advanced wireless streaming technology of the T2 W supports the latest WLAN standards and 2×2 MIMO for faster transmission speeds and greater stability and reliability. All handled and managed by a multi-core CPU supporting lossless audio compression rates of up to 24-bit @ 48KHz and optional lossy compression for legacy devices. This new streaming technology is multi-room capable and can support up to 346 concurrent 24/48 lossless audio streams.

The larger T2 W CNC-machined plinth is manufactured to ensure it is voidless, minimizing unwanted resonances and vibrations. It supports a high-performance belt drive system featuring an electronically regulated, precision-speed AC motor, that drives a sub-platter which is supported by a stainless-steel/brass-bushing main bearing. Sitting on the sub-platter is the new zero resonance, 1.7Kg, 10mm thick glass platter that comes with a felt mat, all promising a wow and flutter of 0.19% @ 33RPM and 0.17% @ 45RPM.

This new plinth design sports a new one-piece aluminum 9 inch tonearm having an improved low-friction gimble bearing assembly and spring-loaded anti-skate mechanism. It comes with a pre-mounted and factory aligned Sumiko Rainier moving magnet cartridge, simplifying setup for inexperienced users.

Phono cartridge RIAA equalization and amplification is handled by the included dual-stage, split-passive moving magnet phono pre-amplifier that also drives the line-level unbalanced RCA outputs.

With its Wi-Fi connectivity, high-quality ethernet network port and unbalanced line-level RCA outputs, ease of use is rounded of with the new Pro-Ject Control app.

To cap off this package, the T2 W comes with a removable dust cover, felt mat and the company’s premium Connect it E Phono RCA cables.
