LUMIN have announced their latest Network Player, the D3. It builds on the success of the popular D1 and D2 network players but now incorporates the latest generation of processors, a new output Saber DAC and an all-aluminum compact body. In many ways it is a smaller and cost reduced version of their T3 Network Player using that players; processor, DAC and analog output stage.

The new more powerful processor and new software provides up-sampling and down-sampling to all supported formats (up to DSD256 and PCM384). It also has enough “spare” processing power, that according to LUMIN, could support future upgrades to possibly include; EQ and DSP functions. The new analogue output stage features the 8-channel, 32 bit Sabre ES9028PRO DAC chip and a buffer stage that includes LUMIN X1 technology, all creating an ultra-low-noise and high dynamic range analog output signal. Plus, like all LUMIN players, the D3 includes LEEDH processing; “an innovative new digital volume adjustment algorithm that eliminates rounding errors”.

Like all other all-aluminum LUMIN network players the D3 supports a very wide range of digital formats and streaming services, from; MQA to DSD, FLAC to WAV, LUMIN can play virtually all high-resolution formats while being Roon Ready and supporting; Spotify Connect, MQA, TIDAL, Plex, Qobuz, FLAC radio stations from TuneIn and more. Additional streaming compatibility is provide by native support for AirPlay 2 and TIDAL Connect.

The D3 maintains the same fully balanced analog design and the same rear panel connectivity found on the D2 to include; analog balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line level outputs, with digital connectivity supported via a BNC output and RJ45 Network and two USB input connections.

Control is still via the unique and intuitive LUMIN App, with this new design housed within an all-aluminum enclosure having a CNC milled front panel and being finished in a fingerprint resistant new silky surface.
