The Power Box RS2 Phono is a good quality linear power supply for both Pro-Ject turntables and phono preamps.

I have shown in various posts that the quality and noise performance of a power supply contributes significantly to the sound quality. The RS2 phono can support all Pro-Ject’s phono preamplifiers and all 15VDC Pro-Ject turntables and both may be connected at the same time.

This low noise analog linear power supply uses a large toroidal transformer that minimizes hum radiation and has a copper electrostatic screen to reduce electrical noise. The power supply is said to have plenty of reserve power with its high current toroid, large smoothing capacitance and low output impedance. As a result the manufacturer claims improvements in the; “sound staging, darkness of silent backgrounds and small detail resolution will improve strongly and contribute to a far better overall performance of each component.”

I can’t confirm the above statement for this power supply but I know from my own very low noise analog linear PSU DIY designs for it to be true.

Available in either black or silver and weighing in at over 3Kg the front panel displays a toggle on/off switch with LED and LED’s indicating active power to the phono stage and turntable. The rear connectivity provides the pair of DC power connectors, one supplies 15 volts (turntable) the other 18 volts (phono preamp) plus the IEC power socket, AC power fuse and AC voltage selector switch.
