*UPDATED: 3/25/2023* – DIRAC Live now available, see end of post.
Just like the leaked 2022/2023 Marantz receiver information here is the latest leaked information about some of the 8K Denon AV receivers for 2022/2023. This is just preliminary specifications/information and is still waiting confirmation by Denon. However, according to the D&M Holdings submission to the Certification Authority of the WiFi Alliance, it clearly shows several of these receivers and a few other models that have been provided for testing.
- AVR-X4800H
- AVC-X4800H
- AVR-X3800H
- AVC-X3800H
- AVR-X2800H DAB
- AVR-X2800H
- AVR-A1H
- AVC-A1H
All receivers support 8K video, HDMI 2.1 up to 40GBPS on every input with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for smooth, lag-free gaming. Another interesting feature is the ability of the more expensive AVR’s to be upgraded, for a fee yet to be announced, to support DIRAC Live room equalization, similar to the Marantz Cinema range and available March 2023. This DIRAC Live upgrade will also require the separate purchase of the recommended MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphone. DIRAC Live Bass Control (DLBC) will be available as a firmware upgrade some time after this.
Additionally it is also rumored that the A1H (only) will support an additional firmware upgrade for the upcoming DIRAC Spatial Room Correction (DSRC).

The most interesting feature of the Denon AVR-X3800H and AVC-X3800H are their abilities to be upgraded, for a fee, to DIRAC Live room correction. The only difference between these two models is that the AVC-X3800H does not have an FM tuner.
They both offer nine channels at 105 watts each (20-20KHz) and support pre-outs for an 11.4 configuration. There are six HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs with all inputs and two outputs supporting HDMI 2.1 @ 40 Gbps 4K@120Hz/HDR, 8K@120Hz/HDR, VRR, ALLM, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ etc.

No confirmed pricing yet on the DIRAC Live firmware upgrades. Estimations are in the range of $260 for the basic license. The bass control upgrade, DIRAC Live Bass Control (DLBC), is slated for sometime in 2024 and is rumored to carry a price tag of $350 if purchased at the same time as the basic DIRAC, or $100 if purchased as a later upgrade. The DIRAC basic upgrade will not be available until after a system firmware upgrade in March 2023.
It has also been confirmed that the DIRAC upgradable receivers will simultaneously support both Audyssey and DIRAC EQ by using one of its two speaker presets for each calibration.
Also due to the enhanced DSP processing power of the A1H it is rumored to be able to support the upcoming Dirac Spatial Room Correction (DSRC) firmware upgrade. This is a full bandwidth application that redirects sound from each speaker to all other speakers with optimized gain and phase in order to compensate for room modes and reflections across the entire listening area. No dates or pricing estimates for the DSRC upgrade just yet.
DIRAC UPGRADE AVAILABLE
The “Limited bandwidth” version costs $259 and the “Full bandwidth” version cost $349. You can purchase your desired version in the DIRAC online store and this will get you the required license key to unlock the product. You’ll also need a microphone as the Audyssey mic included with these receivers is not compatible with DIRAC Live. DIRAC recommends either the UMIK-1 ($79) or UMIK-2 ($195) microphones.
NOTE: This update does not include Dirac Bass Control. DIRAC’s offering for calibrating multiple subwoofers. It is currently planned to be made avilable in 2024 and all current DIRAC Live upgradeable models will support this additional paid upgrade.
