MOON Reveals All New Hi-End Audio Components

Canadian hi-fi brand MOON by Simaudio has launched its 2023 North Collection. A range of six separates sporting new technology and designed to deliver high-performance streaming sound, all manufactured at their home base of Montreal, Canada.

The North Collection consists of three tiers:

• The 600 series (entry level); 681 music streamer with DAC and 641 integrated amplifier

• The 700 series (mid level); 791 streaming preamplifier and 761 power amplifier

• The 800 series (flagship); 891 streaming preamp and 861 power amplifier

Like many rivals, this new range combines the DAC, streaming and pre-amplifier stages into one box while still leaving the power amplifiers as separates. Control has been simplified and enhanced by the use of the MoonLink connectivity feature that allows inter-device control and exchange of data, providing for a seamless control experience. All orchestrated by the intelligent MOON BRM-1 bluetooth, rechargeable remote control, featuring the refined MOON volume knob, visual feedback, touch screen display, numerous refinements including playback control using the MiND 2 streaming platform and supporting a range of up to 150 feet.

This new Northern Collection incorporates the latest MOON technologies to include; the MOON Distortion Cancelling Amplifier (MDCA) circuit that reduces distortion and noise, the MOON Damping Base (MDB) that raises the bar on mechanical isolation, Premium MOON Digital Engine (MDE) converters and updated volume technologies for refined control. All these technologies are said to be further refined the higher you move up the range, with the flagship 891 and 861 claiming to be “several orders of magnitude more precise” in regard to digital timing.

MOON’s streamers support; hi-res streaming from Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and are Roon Ready. There’s also Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, MQA and DSD compatibility.

Finally new OLED color screens feature on all products except the two power amplifiers. These advanced displays showcase cover art, song and album titles and artist names, as well as volume and a setup menus. All wrapped up in MOON’s polished two-tone black and silver chassis with the North Collection having new visual elements such as contoured vertical heatsinks and a vented on top.
