M&K have justly announced an update to their V Series of sealed subwoofers. These updated V+ models are said to be ‘décor-friendly’ designs feature manageable cube sizes with new curved and tapered external housings, with the larger two models featuring THX Certification.
The original V Series drivers of 8″, 10″ and 12″ have been upgraded to 10″, 12″ and 15″ with the 12″ and 15″ models being THX Certified and supporting the newly updated iOS/Android app. This increase in driver size is accompanied by newly treated reinforced paper-cone drivers and increased Class D amplification power:
- 10″ driver: 300 watts RMS
- 12″ driver: 400watts RMS
- 15″ driver: 500watts RMS
These new subs dig deeper with the V10+ playing down to 20Hz (–6dB) and the V12+ and V15+ playing down to 18Hz (–6dB). While the V12+ is THX Certified the V15+ supports THX Ultra Certification when used as a pair to drive rooms up to 3000 cubic feet.
Cabinet sizes are also room placement friendly with the V10+ fitting inside a 13.6″ cube, the V12″ sliding into a 15.6″ cube while the V15+ pushes the boundaries at an 18.5″ cube.
The V10+ provides rear panel access to level, phase and crossover frequency. Whereas the top two models support the updated iOS/Android app that provides adjustment for frequency, gain and Q for each of four independent equalizers. This allows the V10+ and the V15+ to be configured from the listening position instead of having to make manual adjustments using rear-panel controls. In addition to providing controls for adjusting EQ and level, the app can be used to take measurements in and around the prime listening position and correct the subwoofer’s response to compensate for acoustical anomalies.
Grills are all magnetically attached with the V10+ and V12+ available in both black or white satin and the V15+ only available in black satin.
