Following in the footsteps of the 770, Mission has announced the launch of the more budget friendly Mission 750 speaker. This classic ‘bookshelf’ design is available in Walnut and black Oak, incorporates the latest design techniques and technologies, while at the same time paying homage to the companies long speaker design heritage.

This retro-inspired compact speaker measures 13.97×8.5×10.63inches (355x216x270mm) (HxWxD) and is reminiscent of Missions early industrial design styles. One of the more obvious features of the design is the inverted driver arrangement. According to Mission this arrangement, known as Inverted Driver Geometry (IDG), improves the ‘time alignment’ of the drivers, enhancing stereo imaging and ensures a seamlessly coherent and transparent sound.

Bass/Midrange Driver

The all-new Mission 750 model uses a newly developed, mineral-loaded, polypropylene bass/midrange driver and motor system but is now in a new 5.25inch profile specifically designed for this model. From the rigid, die-cast chassis to the low-density nitrile surround, this new driver delivers greater rigidity and precision-controlled cone-termination for improved dynamic performance.

HF Driver

High-frequency reproduction is provided by the 1.1inch, lightweight, coated microfiber dome, as found in the Mission 700 model. Like The Mission 770, the HF unit incorporates a specially damped rear chamber which aids in resonance control and helps extend bandwidth by pushing its fundamental resonance below the crossover frequency. Crossover frequency is set to 2.4Khz by the redesigned crossover that is said to use; “very short signal paths and accommodates high-quality components such as super-transparent polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors.”

The resulting frequency response is a claimed 48Hz-20kHz (+/-3dB), while the bass extension is 42Hz (-6dB). Sensitivity is 86dB (2.8V @ 1m) with a nominal impedance at 6Ω (8Ω compatible).

The 750’s drivers and crossover are housed in a 12.2L real-wood veneered, internally-braced cabinet made from a twin-wall sandwich of high-density MDF and particle board bonded by a layer of vibration-damping glue. A construction that’s said to reduce panel resonance and noise interference.
