McIntosh MI502 Class D Amplifier – Quick Look

The new McIntosh MI502 2-Channel Digital Amplifier joins their comprehensive range of CI products offering 500 watts of Class D power to your home cinema or installed audio.
The MI502 is said by McIntosh to use; “high-tech closed loop digital switching amplifiers and resilient power supplies that produce performance levels seldom heard in custom install audio.” Its Class D digital amplifiers can deliver 500 Watts of power into 8 Ohm speakers or 800 Watts into 4 Ohm speakers and does not require fans due to its very high efficiency.
The MI502 has a variety of applications from home entertainment driving passive satellite speakers and subs to outdoor speakers. Multiple MI502’s could be deployed to power a distributed home audio system and it is rack-mountable with a 2RU height. McIntosh’s Power Control 12-volt triggering capabilities are also provided.
Up front the MI502 features two of McIntosh’s iconic blue watt meters that display the power output of each channel, while multi-colored LED indicators show the status of each channel. There is also the black-glass front panel, an illuminated McIntosh logo, and the familiar silver-trimmed form factor.
Rear panel connectivity includes; balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA input connectors, a pair of McIntosh’s standard speaker binding posts and power control sockets.
