Earlier in 2022 Marantz released the original Cinema Series together with AV 10 and AMP 10. Adding to that original line up Marantz have now added the Cinema 30 flagship home cinema 8K AVR. It boasts seven 8K inputs, two 8K outputs and one 4K output for a second zone.

This latest model follows in the classic minimalistic design of the earlier models and is available in either a black or silver/gold finish. The front panel containing the circular display flanked by the source selection and volume controls. The lower panel of the front facia opens up to reveal a second display together with a number of buttons that are mirrored on the supplied backlit aluminum remote.

The Cinema 30 supports 13.4 channels of processing and is built around eleven symmetrical, 140 watt monolithic Class AB HDAM power amplifiers, that can deliver up to 2 channels at 140watts into 8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, with 0.05% distortion. With processing for 13.4 channels the AVR can easily support a full 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos speaker system, while the 13.4 channel onboard processing with pre-amp mode allows for compatibility with external power amplifiers.

Internal signal processing uses an Analog Devices SHARC dual DSP chipset, together with a 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC. This pairing includes jitter reduction, and has the ability to decode most audio sources and formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, Auro 3D, DSD and lossless FLAC, ALAC and WAV HD formats. All the pcb’s and hardware are mounted above the copper plated chassis and are fed by a separately mounted, 835VA toroidal based power supply that uses two 22,000uF 81V power supply capacitors.

Room acoustics and speaker equalization and correction are supported by the included Audyssey MultEQ XT32 advanced room optimization calibration system. For enthusiasts the equalization maybe upgraded, for a fee, to DIRAC Live (Bass Control) that can fully support the four provided independent subwoofer outputs.

The Cinema 30 also supports a wide range of wireless connectivity. AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth are paired with Marantz’s (and Denon’s) HEOS wireless streaming and multi-room system. It can also be integrated with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri-enabled smart speakers for voice control.

Finally, the Cinema 30 isn’t short on analog and digital connectivity, supporting; 7x8K HDMI/HDCP2.3 inputs, 2x8K HDMI/HDCP2.3 outputs and 1x4K HDMI output for the second zone, 2 optical and 2 coaxial inputs, 6 analog audio inputs and for vinyl enthusiasts a MM phono input. A full set of pre-outs plus 4 independent subwoofer outs (needs DIRAC upgrade), composite and component video inputs plus various control, network and Wi-Fi connections are also available. The front panel supporting both a headphone and USB connection together with the setup microphone socket.
