Bringing up the rear, so as to speak, Marantz has also released the matching Model 50 integrated amplifier at the same time as the CD 50n CD/network player. This Model 50 is an all-analogue design, with a high-current output Class A/B amplifier that provides 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and features the familiar fully discrete HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) technology.
The Model 50 takes its design inspiration from the proven Model 40n platform. It comes with a high quality MM phono input so should be attractive to vinyl enthusiasts and also features a “substantial toroidal power supply and carefully laid out internal signal path topography designed to minimize impedance losses.” Front panel controls include; input and speaker selection, bass, treble, balance and volume. With the front panel low noise OLED display, that can be dimmed, displaying level, input and status.
Alongside the MM input there are a total of five other unbalanced stereo RCA line-level inputs, plus one unbalanced stereo RCA line-level power amp input. Audio outputs include; unbalanced stereo RCA line-level pre-out and record out plus, for that extra bass, an unbalanced mono RCA subwoofer output. Speaker A/B connectivity is provided on four pairs of cinch connectors that can be used for speaker bi-wiring, with personal headphone listening available on the front panel 1/4″ jack.
Control and setup is available using the front panel controls, the supplied RC003PMND remote control and the low noise OLED display. Additional control, to/from other Marantz products, is available using the D-Bus connections.
