LUMIN P1 Mini Streamer – First Look

High-end audio manufacturer Lumin has announced the arrival of its compact and versatile P1 Mini music streamer, a more “affordable” version of their premium P1 model. It is available in either natural or black anodized aluminum and also offers preamplifier and DAC functions.

This latest design features a new analog power supply with a toroidal transformer and low noise regulators, digital volume-control, a fully balanced analogue output stage, a dual ES9028PRO 32bit/768KHz Sabre DAC together with dual crystal oscillators and Lumin’s FPGA clock distribution system. All allowing maximum a file support of up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD512 files.

The P1 supports virtually every streaming service; it is Roon Ready and hosts Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz, FLAC Lossless Radio, TuneIn Radio, AirPlay 2 and multi-room via Songcast.

Rear panel connectivity is quite extensive supporting both standard ethernet and fiber network connections, with digital connectivity being supported on; optical x1, coaxial x1, HDMI x1 and USB type B inputs plus an analog stereo RCA input. Digital outputs include; USB x1,  BNC SPDIF x1 and HDMI ARC x1, while analog outputs are available on one pair of balanced XLR and one pair of unbalanced RCA connectors.

The inclusion of the HDMI ARC connectivity allows the P1 to become the hub of any music or HT/TV system removing the need for an AVR, just connect it to your TV. It supports 4K video passthrough, 2.0 LPCM audio as well as HDR and Dolby Vision.

Finally, control is available using the two front panel rotary controls and display, the supplied tactile infrared remote control that allows easy change of input, volume adjustment, playlist navigation and more or via one of the many app supported control devices to include;  Apple, Android or Chromebook.
