Linn Karousel LP12 Bearing Upgrade

Probably the most iconic turntable of all time, the Linn Sondek LP12, can now have its bearing upgraded for the first time in almost 27 years. Linn commented saying that the Karousel bearing “will improve the performance of every Sondek LP12 turntable ever made”. Karousel, Linn’s new precision-engineered single-point bearing, offers smoother rotation and greater stability for even better sound from your Sondek LP12.

Linn Karousel LP12 Bearing Upgrade

The LP12, established in 1973, uses a unique single-point bearing and acoustic isolation for the turntable design. This new 2020 central bearing design was made possible by various material science advancements, machining capabilities, and design experience that Linn has gathered in almost half a century of design and manufacturing of one of  the world’s best turntables.

This new bearing design produces increased rigidity at the critical point where bearing and sub-chassis come together. The improvements in the bearings design include a stronger housing for the thrust pad, and combined with a smaller stiffer form improves the critical area that supports the platter rotation and mass, meaning your vinyl reproduction is more accurate and detailed than ever before:

  • Stainless Steel Bearing design improves rigidity and stability
  • Stronger, stiffer thrust pad and housing reduces vibration effects

The LP12 has become one of the most cherished turntables of the modern vinyl revival, and the ability to continue upgrading components allows the vinyl enthusiast to own an LP12 for their lifetime.

All new LP12s will feature the new bearing as standard.
