Linkplay have just announced the third model in its series of WiiM-branded streaming DACs, the WiiM Pro Plus Streamer, an upgraded version of the popular WiiM Pro audio streamer. The ‘plus’ in the models description indicates that this new music streamer now features an upgraded DAC and ADC to provide an enhanced audiophile audio experience, all within a sleek, minimalistic and very affordable package.

Upgrades in the WiiM Pro Plus include:

  • A new generation AKM 4493SEQ premium DAC that can achieve very low levels of distortion and wide dynamic range thanks to AKM’s Velvet Sound Technology. It supports up to 768 kHz PCM and DSD512 and can achieve 120 dB (A-wt) SNR with a THD+N of -110dB from 44.1k to 192k.
  • An ultra-low noise clock, power supply, and careful PCB layout helps to achieve better than -110dB THD+N performance for analogue audio output.
  • Incoming line inputs signals are now applied to a TI Burr Brown PCM1861 ADC, supporting up to 192kHz/32-bit digital output with a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB.

WiiM Pro Plus continues to support; AirPlay 2, Alexa Casting, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and more. It also features Chromecast Audio, which lets you cast YouTube Music, TV audio, radio stations, podcasts and local content directly from your favourite Chromecast-enabled App. Roon is also now supported.

Connectivity includes; stereo RCA in and out, TOSLINK in, TOSLINK out, coaxial out, 5V USB-C power in and Ethernet in. This connectivity is ideal for those wishing to support the transition of older legacy equipment into the streaming world. Plus its support of and compatibility with, voice assistants such as Siri, Alexa and Google gives users the freedom to choose the preferred voice control method, allowing for easy management of music selection, volume and playback. Also like the original Pro, the Pro Plus supports multiple EQ options including; 26 preset EQs, bass/treble adjustment, 10-band graphic EQ and parametric EQ.

Setup is a breeze using the WiiM Home app.

WiiM Pro Plus will pop up automatically in the WiiM Home app and with the simple in-app guide the device can be set up in a couple of minutes. Future software updates include, Roon (now available) are all available as an automatic network upgrade.

Finally, the WiiM Pro Plus is sold with WiiM’s Voice Remote Controller, providing yet another convenient and simple method of control adding to the front panel capacitive touch buttons and Home app.
